An indomitable spirit lies behind all innovation. In Azimut 43S, the smallest sport cruiser boat in the Open S range, design culture and the quest for aesthetic perfection combine to form a unique blend. The goal? To challenge classical nautical conventions and identify innovative solutions. This has opened the way to maximising onboard comfort still further through unparalleled living solutions.
The 43S has a squared-off prow that offers a front of approximately 5 feet, which not only uniformly enlarges all the on-board flooring areas but also facilitates mooring manoeuvres. The foredeck has its own large sunpad, with cushions and glass rests in Plexiglas, and is easily accessible via wide walk-around decks, protected by sturdy steel handrails, with water supply filler caps to the right and fuel supply filler caps on both sides. The cockpit is accessed by a starboard gangway and has a six-seater U-shaped cushioned sofa, with storage cupboards underneath, and a central table that when lowered has its own cushion which transforms the divan into a very comfortable sun lounger. The engine room may be accessed from a trap door under the settee in the cockpit or from another trap door in the floor of the saloon. The air-conditioning system and the generator are in the auxiliary area. Ventilation is guaranteed by two fans and an extractor, the batteries are high current and rapid charging and the exhausts are below the waterline. The 43S is the first Azimut to be fitted with the new IPS 500 system, developed by Volvo. This new system guarantees exceptional manoeuvrability and is extraordinarily quiet during cruising. The efficiency of these 370hp engines guarantees the same performance obtained from a traditional 450hp engine, maximum speed 33 knots and a cruising speed of 29 knots, while consuming far less fuel. The two 370hp Volvo’s are eco-compatible and guarantee a significant reduction in exhaust fumes to well within gas emissions IMO regulations. Interiors The internal décor, designed by Carlo Galeazzi, in collaboration with Azimut’s Styling Department, is modern and refined. The exceptional luminosity granted by the large windows is enhanced by light shades of high-tech fabrics and by the interwoven fibres used on the door panelling of the cabins and wardrobes while being contrasted by the dark tones of wengé used for the floors and furnishings. All the furniture is lined internally with scented cedar wood. The fabric used for the curtains, sofas and bed covers may be chosen from two different lines: Sport or Charm, based on the customers’ own personal tastes. Access to the salon is through a sliding four panelled crystal that faces on to two sofas. The one to starboard is L-shaped and may be transformed into a spare queen sized bed, has rounded seating facing forward, a pouf to aft and a side table. A second sofa is to port between a cupboard for table service and steps leading down to the galley. The central dining table is rectangular with folding leaves and may be lowered when opening the supplementary bed (optional). The helmstation has been designed with the same materials and colours present on the other Open models; iridescent grey and aluminium coloured instrument panels with a leather two-seater reclining sofa for increased comfort while navigating. Great care has been taken with the galley, located at a slightly lower level, which has wood flooring, stainless steel worktops and sink and a three ring ceramic hob with microwave underneath. The 130lt fridge-freezer and a 55lt freezer (optional) offer a more ample work surface area. There are numerous cupboards and draws under the worktop and an eye-level cupboard above guaranteeing ample store space. An opaline windows filters daylight from the overhead windshield that illuminates the corridor accessing the sleeping area and the bathroom in the master suite. The master cabin in the bows has two large fixed rectangular windows, a centrally positioned double bed with a large draw underneath and two wardrobes along the aft wall. The bathroom is to port and may be accessed from inside the cabin. The guests’ cabin to starboard is bathed in natural daylight from 4 square windows that are present only on this side of the boat, has twin beds, one of which is sliding to form a second double bed if required with two ample drawers underneath. The fitted wardrobe is to fore as is access to the bathroom. The guests’ bathroom may also be accessed from the corridor. Both bathrooms have teak flooring, round showers (Ø80cm) with sliding Plexiglas doors and wooden shower trays, lay-on crystal washbasins sunken into wooden surface tops and a large wall cupboard screened by a double mirror.
